Top9Proteins Suspension Formulations
Top9Proteins makes protein suspensions starting from high quality, trusted suppliers of foods. Each food is prepared to maximize its protein content and solubility. The foods are then solubilized. Any non-soluble matter is separated and removed through centrifugation and a series of filtration steps. The filtration both ensures that proteins will remain in solution and further sterilizes the liquid suspension.
After analysis to measure the protein content, the solutions are mixed with sterile glycerol and phenol to ensure 4mg of protein / mL in a shelf-stable suspension.
Top9Proteins protein suspension are not drugs and are not validated against an FDA standard. In lieu of that testing, each protein suspension is delivered with a certificate of assessment which shows the quantity and potency of the protein in the suspension, along with the analytic methods used.
Comparison to Homemade Suspensions
Suspensions made from grocery items may have limited shelf-life and stability, and may require regular re-suspension. Without quantification of the protein in the grocery items, the resulting suspension may be of variable potency.
Comparison to Commercial Suspensions
A 2010 paper from the USDA compared commercially available protein extracts to those made from raw peanut. As evidenced by the SDS-PAGE results, there was wide variation between homemade and commercial extracts, as well as between commercial extracts.
Of particular concern is the number of voluntary recalls over the last several years from producers of commercial extracts due to the lack of detectable proteins in marketed peanut and pecan products.
